Apple, Oat & Almond Crumble
A delicious crumble recipe from AGA Rangemaster Group Home Economist Alexandra Dibble
INGREDIENTS
- 6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped into large chunks
- 150g caster sugar
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 5 tbsp lemon juice
- 250g plain flour
- 125g butter
- 100g flaked almonds
- 80g Demerara sugar
Serves 6-8
METHOD
- In a large mixing bowl rub together the plain flour and butter, until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, flaked almond and demerara sugar and set aside.
- In a half-size metal or Portmeirion roasting dish, mix the apples, caster sugar, flour and lemon juice together. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top of the apples.
- Place the crumble on the second set of runners in the roasting oven for 20-25 minutes and then transfer to the floor of the simmering oven for 30-40 minutes
Conventional oven method: place the crumble on the grid shelf of a fan oven set to 200 °C for 35-40 minutes.
