Apple, Oat & Almond Crumble

A delicious crumble recipe from AGA Rangemaster Group Home Economist Alexandra Dibble

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped into large chunks
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 5 tbsp lemon juice
  • 250g plain flour
  • 125g butter
  • 100g flaked almonds
  • 80g Demerara sugar

Serves 6-8

METHOD

  1. In a large mixing bowl rub together the plain flour and butter, until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, flaked almond and demerara sugar and set aside.
  2. In a half-size metal or Portmeirion roasting dish, mix the apples, caster sugar, flour and lemon juice together. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top of the apples.
  3. Place the crumble on the second set of runners in the roasting oven for 20-25 minutes and then transfer to the floor of the simmering oven for 30-40 minutes

Conventional oven method: place the crumble on the grid shelf of a fan oven set to 200 °C for 35-40 minutes.
