Joe Gallagher and his SOLIS K50 Pellet Stove
Joe Gallagher from Westmeath had the Stanley SOLIS K50 Pellet stove installed in his home over 18 months ago. ‘We had an open fire before and burnt coal and briquettes. You can imagine we went through a lot of briquettes and coal!’
Why did Joe choose a Stanley pellet stove? ‘It was the right size for our home. Liked the look and style of the SOLIS K50. It was also down to the cost of running it which is far cheaper, awareness of climate change and carbon taxes on solid fuels.’
What does Joe love about the Stanley SOLIS K50? ‘Love the convenience of it. Literally 3 minutes in the morning, fill up the hopper, hoover out any ash if required and press the button to go. No using firelighters or kindling. Pellets are a much cleaner fuel to use.’
Has Joe noticed a change in his heating bills since getting in the pellet stove? ‘Oh definitely yes. House is much cosier. We have electric storage heaters which are warm in the morning but get colder as the day progresses. Typically we have the SOLIS K50 on 8 hrs + a day and a 15kg bag gives me 2 days. The K50 heats all of downstairs and also travels up the stairs and into the rooms above. I pay around €5 for a 15kg bag of pellets. It’s cheaper than coal.'
Do they have a particular favourite moment with your Stanley? ‘Lovely when its cold outside and snow on the ground and its warm inside. Like the flame, its lovely to look at.’
