Rachel Walsh and her Stanley Cara Glass Pellet Insert

Rachel Walsh from Cork had the Stanley Cara Glass Pellet Insert installed over 5 months ago. "Previously I had a Stanley Oscar stove, it was great for heating my home but, I have had a lot of back problems so I needed to reassess my situation. Going forward lifting coal and wood was not going to be an option. When I heard Stanley had a new wood pellet insert, I decided to invest. “

Why did Rachel choose a Stanley stove?    "All of my family have Stanley stoves. We have had them for years.  When you think of Stanley, you think of high quality, excellence, long-lasting and good craftsmanship.  My parents have visited me to see the Cara Glass Pellet working and they have now ordered one. My neighbours have also been in and are considering buying one.  As well as being economical, I think everyone is interested in making life easier, and the Cara pellet insert certainly does that."

What does Rachel love about the Cara Glass Pellet Insert?   "I have back issues and was finding it difficult to fetch and carry for the Oscar stove. I love the fact that the pellet insert uses a much lighter fuel, is easier to light and provides instant heat. I can preset the Cara Pellet to come on when I want, before I leave home.  You load up your pellets, and set the timer.  Alternatively you can use the app on your phone, when you are out. Aesthetically I think it’s very contemporary, very elegant and quite timeless.  I love that it heats the whole house when you leave the room doors open and I love that it has a natural flame. I was concerned about the flame before I got it, but, it's great. I actually really like the sound of the pellets clinking down the pipe and the sparks they throw off."

So have you noticed a change in your home heating bills?  "Previously I had a multi fuel stove which was much more economical than an open fire, which is what I started off with. All I have to buy for this stove are the pellets. No firelighters, which are now more expensive, no waxies, no kindling, no coal, no wood, bucket, or fire irons.  I  also feel it's going to reduce my house maintenance  costs and my cleaning. My house already feels much cleaner. Even outdoors I can’t get over how clean it is. There were lots of slugs, snails and cobwebs over winter from the wood and coal, in the yard  and always the possibility of a rat or mice hiding. Now I keep the pellets in a nice  box in my sitting room with a plastic cup for scooping them out".

When prompted about her favourite moment.  " At the end of the day, I can sit down,  press the button and  away she goes. It’s a very clean fuel. It has 4 settings which allows me to have as much, or as little heat as I want, when I want!  Particularly at the moment when there is a nip in the air, I can turn it on at any time and it heats up straight away. ‘
